The Context
As part of TGRG’s talent management work, I represented Tee Max, a photographer whose archive documents some of the most iconic figures in music and popular culture before they became household names — including Beyoncé, Usher, Method Man, Biggie Smalls, and Nas. After decades of his work lying dormant, I saw an opportunity to bring his legacy to life.

This exhibition at the Royal Albert Hall is the culmination of a two-year journey, during which I negotiated opportunities for Tee Max to exhibit nationally and internationally. This included showcasing his work at a major national site, securing inclusion in the V&A, and preparing for his photography to be featured in the forthcoming V&A East museum.

My Role
I approached the Royal Albert Hall and successfully negotiated a major exhibition of Tee Max’s work. In addition to negotiating the contract on his behalf, I worked as a creative consultant and contributed to the overarching strategic direction of the project. I supported the Royal Albert Hall team with communications and public programming planning and recommended ways to extend Tee’s reach beyond in-person talks, such as video content offering insights into portrait photography.

The Journey
While I had not previously worked with the Royal Albert Hall, I brought extensive experience in cultural partnerships to the relationship. This project required balancing the creative vision of the artist with the institutional needs of the venue. Through strategic foresight and collaborative engagement, I helped shape a partnership that would amplify Tee Max’s work and benefit all stakeholders.

The Result
The exhibition opens in June 2025, so public impact is still to be measured. However, the collaboration itself has already broken new ground. While Tee Max’s peers have exhibited in institutions like Tate, this show positions him in a globally recognised cultural venue on his own terms, elevating his visibility and legacy.

What I’m Proud Of
Talent management, for me, is about helping people dream bigger. It has reactivated 30 years of work and introduced it to a new audience, providing a platform of prestige and visibility that had previously been out of reach.

This project is a reminder that with the right strategy and support, dormant legacies can rise and shine on the world stage.
