If you were sitting in the room with me right now, you’d probably be telling me to shut up.
Why?
I’m just so gassed by Africa Fashion exhibition at the V&A museum. The first exhibition of its kinda at the museum and according to the press release there’s “over 250 objects are on display for the exhibition, with approximately half of these drawn from the museum’s collection, including 70 new acquisitions.
“Many of the garments on show are from the personal archives of a selection of iconic mid-twentieth century African designers – Shade Thomas-Fahm, Chris Seydou, Kofi Ansah and Alphadi, marking the first time their work will be shown in a London museum.” according to the official website.
From the moment the exhibition was announced I knew it was something that needed to be seen. It’s so rare for me to go anywhere with my clients. So when an opportunity came up to take a few of my clients I went too.
Africa Fashion is a stunning exhibition. Rich with history and beautiful textiles that makes your chest just burst with pride.
Apparently an exhibition of its kind hasn’t been seen in London since 2005 and to stand amongst all our greatness is so healing.
The exhibition runs until April 2023 and you can purchase tickets at vam.ac.uk
